It will solve all your video-relared problems, also in any given Mac incompatibility issues against not Quicktime supported codecs.

Some videos are using h.264 codec (mpeg-4 part10), Quicktime format.
You need to download Quicktime 7.0 or higher in order to watch these videos.
Also note that Quicktime 7 requires 1400MHz CPU or more.

(Please note that some applications can only play downloaded videos from your hard drive.)
